The Eg River flows through and Bulgan provinces in northern Mongolia. It is the only outflow of Lake Khuvsgul and a tributary of the Selenge River. Our EMT Lodge is located on the banks of the Eg River, located in the territory of Teshig soum, Bulgan province.

In proximity to our lodge, there are three other rivers that are tributaries of the Eg River: they are the Buural, Tavt, and Tarvagtai Rivers. The Eg River is a world-renowned destination for taimen but also well known for many other noteworthy species, including lenok, grayling, Amur trout, and pike.

Fishing at Eg and surrounding rivers is recognized as the most noted, world-class taimen destination. Upon arrival, we will be covering most productive stretches of the river using 4-wheel drive vehicles and jet boats to access them. Fly Shop Mongolia operates inflatable jet boats that can reach difficult and remote areas of the river where others can’t access. Our inflatable boats are very robust and powerful to overcome the occasionally strong currents and rapids of the rivers. All anglers will be transported to fishing spots by boat each day. Once arriving, wading is typically the most popular option for fly fishing.

Each day our guides will discuss angler goals and wishes and plan the next fishing day. We prepare in advance all gear and flies respectively. Typically, you will venture out on daily expeditions that include a midday shore lunch break. We rotate fishing areas and cover the lower and upper river stretches, and return evenings into base camp for a hot shower, sauna, fine meal, and discussions of our day’s adventures. Our local guides are absolutely the best. They have fished for many years and understand our rivers, know every pool and how to fish it.

We have 5 wood-framed accommodations which are divided into two types: standard and deluxe houses. Each of them has 3 beds respectively. Our wooden structures are extremely comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally and socially appropriate for the Mongolian countryside. In addition, our camp has modern, shared toilets, hot showers, and a sauna.

The lodge has a large dining room where anglers can relax as a group after challenging day at the river. Every evening our camp staff will gather around an open fire and serve traditional, local alcoholic beverages to close a successful day of fishing and adventure. The Lodge has central diesel powered generators and electrical outlets to recharge all electronic equipment daily. Our lodge cooks and staff are absolutely the best local professionals and all meals are designed for western tastes, with plenty of breakfasts, packed or hot lunches, and multi-course dinners with local vegetable and deserts.
